The Baku Stock Exchange participated in the "Green Finance and Sustainable Development Forum" as part of the UN's initiative "29 Climate Discussions: The Road to COP29

On October 18, 2024, the "Green Finance and Sustainability Forum" took place as part of the initiative "29 Climate Talks: The Road to COP29," organized jointly by the Azerbaijan Banks Association, the Association of Azerbaijan Fund Market Participants, the Azerbaijan Fintech Association, the Azerbaijan Microfinance Association, and the Association of Azerbaijan Insurers. At this forum, representatives from government, financial institutions, international organizations, and civil society gathered to discuss the importance of green finance in combating climate change and promoting sustainable economic development, as well as the steps to be taken in terms of investment strategies and sustainable development goals.

In his opening speech, Taleh Kazimov, the Chairman of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, spoke about the crucial role of green finance in forming a sustainable economy. He noted that our strategic initiatives are aimed at enhancing the resilience of the national economy, stimulating the attraction of green investments, and ensuring that financial institutions are ready to support sustainable practices.

The designated president of COP29, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev, emphasized the importance of the financial sector's role in the transition to a sustainable economy during his speech.

Subsequently, leaders of financial associations operating in the country presented their views and strategies for promoting green finance. This conference fostered discussions aimed at strengthening cooperation in the implementation of green finance strategies and promoting sustainable development. Participants shared ideas on developing new financial instruments and methods to ensure ecological balance and combat climate change. This represents a significant step in Azerbaijan's transition to a green economy.
